Barossa Wine School in collaboration with Melbourne Wine School uncorks the secrets of South Australia’s, (and Australia's), most revered wine region, the Barossa Valley.Â
Discover the rich history and diverse flavours of some of Barossa’s finest wines with the Introduction to Barossa Wines course, taught by Melbourne Wine School.Â
Barossa Wine School offers three levels of knowledge, from novice (no wine knowledge required) to expert.
Designed for enthusiastic wine drinkers, wine trade, media and educators, over 1,000 people have successfully completed the introductory level with many of these going onto complete the higher levels.
Each level builds upon the previous one and covers history, geography, climate, soils, grapes, viticulture, vinification, aging/maturation, wine law, official classifications, terminology, producers, vintages and the business of wine, culminating in the Barossa Wine School Level 3, (the peak of the program) which is a once in a life time six day immersive program held in Barossa,
Their goal is to create an accessible course for as wine enthusiasts and professionals as possible all over the globe!

Who is the Barrosa Wine School?
The Barossa Wine School, launched in 2013 by Barossa Australia (formerly Barossa Grape & Wine Association) is a comprehensive wine education program that enhances students’ understanding of Barossa history, viticulture, winemaking and wine styles. Designed for enthusiastic wine drinkers, wine trade, media and educators, over 1,000 people have successfully completed the introductory level with many of these going onto complete the higher levels.
Description
The Barossa Enthusiast is an introductory wine course about Barossa and no previous knowledge is required.
This 2(ish) hour relaxed session includes the history, wine styles and grape varieties and culture of the Barossa with each class including a tasting of seven premium Barossa wines.
What's Included?
This 2(ish) hour relaxed session includes all course materials as well as the history, wine styles and grape varieties and culture of the Barossa Valley including a tasting of premium Barossan wines.

Certification & Exam (Optional)
For those who would like to obtain a certification, there is an optional 30 minute examination comprising of 25 multiple choice questions.
The pass mark is 70% and if you decide to take the exam you will receive a certificate on successful completion!
Passing grade: 70%
Entry Requirements
All attendees must be at least 18 years of age.
There are no other requirements for this course.
Meet Your Educator

Andrew McIntyre DipWSET
Andy has over fifteen years' experience working in the wine industry. His passion for wine ignited when working for Corney & Barrow in London, after attending an in-house wine course. From there he moved to one of the longest standing wine companies on the high street - Oddbins - and completed WSET Levels 2 and 3.
After many years at Oddbins he found a home at a small fine wine merchant called Philglas & Swiggot. It was there he worked with fellow Australian & Master of Wine - Justin Knock MW, gaining the highly valued WSET Diploma.
Now back in Melbourne, Andy is currently a student on the Master of Wine program, and continues to work in the wine trade sharing his passion and love of wine with those keen to learn more.
