Barolo and Barbaresco are two relatively small wine-growing zones in Piedmont, in the north western corner of Italy that in recent times, have grown more in stature and adulation world wide. The fame is well deserved and now the wines carrying the names of Barolo and Barbaresco are considered to be amongst the greatest in the world, and now amongst the most expensive. It's in these two regions where Nebbiolo really shines, and whilst other grape varieties are grown, there is no doubt that Nebbiolo is the king of these Castelli's.

About Our Masterclass: Barolo & Barbaresco

As Riesling is to the Rhine or Mosel Valleys, or pinot noir is to Burgundy, so the Nebbiolo grape is to the Langhe hills of Piemonte, and most particularly, to Barolo and Barbaresco.

These two, relatively small wine-growing zones in the north-western corner of Italy, flanking the town of Alba, have grown in stature and adulation, such that wines carrying the names Barolo and Barbaresco are now considered amongst the greatest in the world. And amongst the most expensive. Here, whilst other grape varieties, mostly red, are grown on the hillside slopes, there is no doubt that Nebbiolo is the king of the Castelli.
