Who is the Barossa Wine School?

The Barossa Wine School, launched in 2013 by Barossa Australia (formerly Barossa Grape & Wine Association) is a comprehensive wine education program that enhances students’ understanding of Barossa history, culture, viticulture, winemaking and wine styles.

Designed for anyone from enthusiastic wine drinkers, wine trade, media and educators, this course now has thousands of people from around the world who have successfully completed the introductory level with many going on to complete the higher levels also, including Level 2: Barossa Specialist and the Level 3: Barossa Master with a five day immersion trip to the Barossa

Course Description

The Barossa Enthusiast is an introductory wine course about Barossa and no previous knowledge is required.

This 2(ish) hour relaxed session includes the history, wine styles and grape varieties and culture of the Barossa with each class including a tasting of seven premium Barossa wines.


So what will you learn?

• Gain an in-depth perspective into the two main winemaking regions of Barossa: the Barossa Valley and the Eden Valley

• You will gain knowledge about the region for your further certifications (eg. WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, etc.)

• Understand the tasting of classic Barossa wine styles

• Key production facts

​Want to be Certified?

For those who would like to obtain a certification, there is an optional 30 minute examination comprising of 25 multiple choice questions. The pass mark is 70% and if you decide to take the exam you will receive a certificate on successful completion!
