Tour de France

Tour de France is a four-week journey through the classic wine regions of France. Each evening at our Richmond location, we focus on a different set of regions, exploring the grape varieties, terroir and styles that have shaped them.

From Champagne and Burgundy to Bordeaux, the Rhone and beyond, you'll taste your way through the wines that built France's reputation as the spiritual home of fine wine. Book all four sessions, or pick the regions you're most curious about.

About this course

Tour de France is a four-week course covering the major wine regions of France. Each evening focuses on a different set of regions, exploring the grape varieties, terroir and styles that define them.

Sessions run weekly at our Richmond location from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. You can book all four evenings, or pick the sessions that interest you most.

No prior wine knowledge is required. The course suits beginners through to experienced tasters looking to deepen their understanding of French wine.

Session 1

Champagne, Alsace & Beaujolais

Sparkling tradition, aromatic whites, and the gamay heart of Beaujolais

Session 2

Bordeaux & Southwest France

Left Bank and Right Bank Bordeaux, plus the diverse styles of the Southwest

Session 3

Burgundy & Loire Valley

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Cote d'Or, with the white wines of the Loire

Session 4

Northern & Southern Rhone, Southern France

Syrah in the north, Grenache blends in the south, and the wines of Languedoc and Provence

Entry requirements

Attendees must be at least 18 years old. There are no other requirements.

Policies

Zero tolerance

Melbourne Wine School has a zero-tolerance policy for threatening behaviour or acts of aggression and violence, physical or verbal, towards any member of our staff. Any violation will result in removal from the course without refund.

Illness

If you are unwell on the day of a session, please let us know. Missed sessions cannot be refunded but may be transferred to a future intake at our discretion.
