Shipping policy

Thank you for shopping with Melbourne Wine School. This policy explains how we ship your order, what it costs, and what to expect after you buy.

This policy covers physical goods only. Courses, tastings, events, online courses, memberships and digital study tools are not shipped and are not covered here. Bookings for those are governed by our Booking, Cancellation and Transfer Terms, at melbournewineschool.com.au/pages/terms-and-conditions.

Delivery of alcohol

It is an offence to supply alcohol to a person under the age of 18 years. Penalties exceed $25,000. It is also an offence for a person under the age of 18 years to purchase or receive alcohol. Penalties exceed $1,000.

You must be 18 or over to order alcohol from us, and alcohol will only be handed to a person aged 18 or over who can produce acceptable proof of age.

  • First orders. On your first order we will check identification on delivery and hand the order to the person who placed it.
  • Gifts. Where an order is a gift, we will hand it to the recipient, or to another person aged 18 or over at that address, on production of identification.
  • Same-day deliveries must be handed to a person and cannot be left unattended.
  • Later orders may be left according to your delivery instructions, which can include leaving the order unattended if nobody is home. Those instructions are at your own risk.
  • We will not deliver to a person who is under 18, who cannot produce proof of age, or who appears intoxicated. Where a delivery is refused on any of these grounds, no refund of the order is given, though you may arrange redelivery at your own cost.
  • All deliveries are completed before 11pm.

Order processing
Except as otherwise stated on our website, orders are processed as soon as possible, usually within two business days. You will receive a confirmation email when your order ships, with tracking where the shipping method supports it.

Shipping methods and delivery times
Available shipping methods and estimated delivery times are shown at checkout. Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees, and begin once your order ships. They may be affected by carrier delays, weather, or other events outside our control.

Shipping costs
Shipping charges are calculated at checkout based on your destination, order weight, and the shipping method you select. Free standard shipping may be available on selected orders, as displayed at checkout.

Order tracking
Once your order ships we will email you a tracking number and link where one applies. Tracking can take a little time to show movement after the email reaches you.

Where we ship
We ship within Australia only. We do not currently ship overseas.

Address accuracy
Please check your shipping address at checkout. Contact us as soon as possible if you need to correct it. We cannot be responsible for an order delivered to an address you gave us incorrectly, though we will help you trace it where we can.

Lost, damaged or delayed parcels
If your order is lost, damaged or delayed, contact us and we will help you work with the carrier. Please inspect your order on arrival and tell us straight away if anything has arrived broken.

Changing or cancelling an order
This applies to orders for physical goods. If you need to change or cancel one, contact us as soon as possible. We can often accommodate a change before the order ships, but once it is with the carrier we cannot alter it. Where an order is cancelled before dispatch, we refund to the original payment method. Returns after delivery are covered by our Refund policy.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including your right to a remedy where goods are not of acceptable quality or are not delivered within a reasonable time.
