Tasting: Elanto Vineyard with Sandro Mosele

Elanto Vineyard is the newest name on the Mornington Peninsula, and was named Best New Winery in the 2026 Halliday Wine Companion. It's run by vigneron Sandro Mosele, who made his name at Kooyong and Port Phillip Estate.

The vineyard is at Balnarring, looking over Western Port Bay, and it's planted at 11,111 vines per hectare, with the vines just 0.75 metres apart. At that spacing the vines compete with each other and the roots go deep. It's farmed without herbicides, largely to organic principles, and the first wines came from the 2023 vintage.

Sandro will be with us on the night to pour and talk through the wines: a Chardonnay and four Pinot Noirs, including the Basalt and Ironstone.
