Leeu Passant is the Franschhoek Winery of Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines. Separate from the Milluneux range, the Leeu Passant wines are multi-regional bottlings inspired by the classic age-worthy wines of the Cape from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s. These were authentic wines unique to the culture, terroir, history and tastes of the Cape, and today the family strive to reflect these unique factors in their modern interpretations of these wines.

About the producer
French Oak (30 Months)
Stellenbosch is South Africa's most celebrated wine district, set in the mountainous heart of the Cape Winelands just east of Cape Town. Its warm Mediterranean climate is tempered by cooling breezes off False Bay and a patchwork of granite, sandstone and shale soils, giving winemakers an unusual range of sites to work with. The district built its reputation on structured, ageworthy reds, above all Cabernet Sauvignon and the classic Bordeaux-style blends of its "Golden Triangle", alongside Syrah and South Africa's signature grape, Pinotage. Cool, higher slopes also turn out serious Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc. Home to the country's leading wine university and many of its benchmark estates, Stellenbosch sits at the centre of South African fine wine, a natural first stop for understanding what the Cape does best.
Tasting note
(From the Winery) While capturing the Stellenbosch sunshine, this textured Chardonnay reflects its maritime climate with aromas of yellow grapefruit, wet-stone and a hint of Mebos. The vibrant palate delivers notes of Key lime sorbet followed by layers of stone-fruit and lemon curd. The touch of salinity and lush mouthfeel, is well balanced by a zesty acidity, leading up to a beautifully poised and defined finish. Best served at 10-12°C, this wine will show excellent when decanted and will reward if cellared optimally over 10 years.
